Gear page for Jewelers and Cottage Bakers

Click here for a PDF list of gear for upcoming jewelry workshops

This gear list is meant to offer guidance, not hard rules. Everyone’s setup will look a little different depending on the type of jewelry you create, what you want to highlight in your images, and how much you're comfortable investing. Whether you're working with tools you already own or starting from scratch, we’re here to help you figure out what makes the most sense for your workflow and budget. Think of this as a menu of options—from budget-friendly to pro-level—so you can build a setup that works for you.

What You Absolutely Need to Take This Workshop

To get the most out of this hands-on experience, please bring the following:

  • Camera (Mirrorless, DSLR, or Smartphone)

  • Lens (if using a camera – a basic kit lens is fine but a macro lens is ideal)

  • Lighting – at least 3–4 portable LED lights with diffusion

  • White Background – seamless paper, poster board, foam core, or fabric

  • Jewelry Pieces – bring 2–5 pieces you want to photograph (variety is welcome!)

  • Charged Batteries – for your camera, phone, and lights

  • Memory Cards or Storage – make sure your camera has space to shoot

  • Phone or Camera Stand/Tripod – for stable shooting

  • Microfiber Cloth – to clean your jewelry before shooting

  • Power Cords/Chargers – especially if you plan to shoot tethered

Computer and Tethering Software (optional, but required if you want to shoot tethered and preview images on a larger screen)
