Sometimes you need an updated portrait. Then you get to make all kinds of fun decisions about how you want to do it. These guys didn’t like the first one we did which was done standard style old school. Back drop set up with portrait lighting… so we went into the office and made this shot where Mr. O’Brien seemed a lot more comfortable. He could easily work at his desk while we were setting up and getting things ready to go. Then when we were ready, we asked him to look up and smile. He looked at home and comfortable and that was what we were looking for. They were all happy with this portrait.
But Scott got to looking around and once everyone was happy with the formal shot, Scott requested just a few mins for something a little different…
He came up with this one, which made him happy -er!
Using available light and a reflector, then incorporating in the architecture of the massive windows on the back wall of the City Hall Building, Scott composed this image. He used great care as to where Mr. O’Brien stood in front of the carefully maneuvered blinds behind him. Who knows if they will ever use this images for anything ever- but it’s one for his personal portfolio.
