When asked if we can add a little life to a product that may not be all that glamorous we usually think of color. Lots of beautiful bold colors… We’ve found that good use of color will greatly increase the impact of any printed piece. It will improve readership and increase response. Why? Because most of us will judge a business by their image. That is why it’s so necessary that your business shows professionalism and high quality. The best way to do so is create bold, colorful, (not gaudy) eye catching pieces.
Let’s take a look at a before and after shot of a large piece of equipment we shot recently.
When a client can not decide wether or not to use bold colors, we usually like to show them the difference side by side. This next photo actually showcases the impact of color. Take a look at what we shared with them.
This is a bright – clean – well lit – piece of machinery. It’s would be perfectly acceptable for them to use this shot to showcase this machines capabilities. In fact, They really liked what they saw in this photo.
Then we added a bit of color into the mix and came up with this next shot.
In this shot you can see we used the color blue to highlight the machine in a very different way. We also liked the way blue looked against the orange of the product that the machine was processing. But to take it a step further, blue is also the company’s main logo color. Once we showed them these two options, they saw the impact color can have. One final thing – their designer really wanted color for the brochure images… So by giving them this photo, we were also giving them what they craved design wise. In the end, It all comes down to personal preference and if it fits in line with the image the company is trying to convey. In this case, we just listened to what they were asking for.
